In May BYT had a fantastic night performing at the Brixton Library as part of Lambeth Young Voices. BYT member Lewis Farrent’s play, ‘Coming Out’, was performed by a cast of professional actors and several members performed their spoken word pieces which had been developed in the Spoken Word masterclasses ran by Elliott Daley.
Take a look at BYT’s collaboration with the English National Opera on a project called Millions of Years

We are back – BYT kicks off an exciting new year on the 8 January 6pm – 8pm and we are keen to get cracking with our projects. This month we will begin rehearsals with the English National Opera on the Akhnaten Project and BYT members will also be starting work towards their Arts Awards.
Develop Your Skills in a special project about time, from the ancient past to today and beyond to our imagined future. What stories do we want to tell from the past? What do we value? What do we want to leave behind for future generations?
You will get the chance to create your own spoken word, music and dramatic material with professional artists and perform alongside professional musicians, singers, jugglers, and a community chorus in a large-scale public event in central London. Discover new music and performance styles and develop your performance experience.
The project is inspired by ENO’s new production Akhnaten, an opera by Philip Glass, about the rise, reign and fall of the Egyptian Pharaoh. You will get the chance to come and watch the production and meet members of the company as part of the project.
Cost: Free to take part!
The project also includes a free ticket to a special on-stage event and a performance of Akhnaten at the London Coliseum on Friday 18 March, 5-10pm
We’ve got an exciting Autumn planned with workshops and rehearsals for our new play, more collaborations with the ENO, and an exclusive viewing of the trailer of the film we shot over the summer. So come along and join in.
Please contact us if you would like to audition for a part in our new production.
